An intricate knotted cross from the Book of Kells, with a few added touches in the design, as well as some faux gold leaf of course! You can never have enough gold leaf in my opinion! ;-) On this piece I painted the background of the wooden panel a pale cream color as the larger wooden panels have a darker surface than the wee 6x6 ones and I wanted a really pale cream color behind the violets of the cross.
