This was a gorgeous piece of jade that I just couldn't resist from my local lapidary shop...the shape reminds me of an old arrowhead, or a peak of flame with the swirls of color in the jade. I decided to use the flame motif, but made very organic looking flares, almost plant-like, to give it a really exotic flavour. The finished piece had such a dancing look, and so wild and swirling, that it reminded me of stories of gypsies dancing around the firelight, and so hence the name. :-)
