Marble Dragon

Marble Dragon

I had to do some real brainstorming for this piece, to figure out how to get the acrylic to stick to the marble while still keeping the level of detail I wanted.

Finally, I found the best way was to lay down a coat of acrylic that covered the whole surface of the marble, and then I traced down my design. With a variety of fine blades, I then gently scraped away the acrylic that didn't belong - revealing the dragon and the rest of the designs. The painting is meant to be hung as a diamond, rather than a square, with the four points reading North, South, East, and West in Japanese.
