Celtic Sun

Celtic Sun

For this piece I wanted something that was so radiant, so glowing, that it just burned off the page. Yet at the same time, it had to be interesting and be loaded up with full Celtic goodness (I am a magpie, after all)! This Celtic sun is filled with tiny trefoil knots radiating within its rays. Knotted sparks shoot off the sun to give it some crackle! To tie in into some Celtic history, within the centre of the sun there is a spiral design reminiscent of the spiral found carved on the outer stone at New Grange, one of the most fantastic Celtic monuments to see. I go there every time I visit Ireland!
