Fire Wheel (Calligraphy Magic book cover)
The original cover artwork that I painted for my book Calligraphy Magic: How to Create Lettering, Knotwork, Coloring & More. The biggest challenge with a piece like this is trying to anticipate how it's going to both look as a cover, as well as how the cover will be laid out. I actually proposed the cover design because of this, to try and take advantage of the design and really give impact to the Celtic elements of the artwork. Although traditional Celtic coloring is much more bright and primary, I wanted to use a more muted or "foresty" shade of colors instead, to give it a warm and earthy feel. The painting includes a matte and is ready for framing!
