Celtic Flame

I was inspired to do this painting after visiting a hand woven rug shop. They told me the design was Islamic, and after I made some rough sketches in the shop I came home and made my Celtic version shown here. Although it had its start as an Islamic rug, the finished knot reminds me of a Celtic bonfire in the black of night - perfect for Beltaine!
