The Druid Tree

The Druid Tree

One of my favorite things to draw and paint - a Celtic Tree of Life. The tree has loads of detail, and if you looks closely you'll see all his silver roots and branches interlace like Celtic knots. Copper leaves and tiny copper acorns (which occur in threes, a magical number in a lot of ancient cultures including the Celts) accent the design. The tree itself is an oak tree -- thought to be the tree of the Druids -- and there is a small Celtic Serpent curled at it's base. I've used the Celtic Serpent here to represent eternal life and rebirth.
